The English Golf Union (EGU) and
the English Women’s Golf Association (EWGA) are
the governing bodies for men’s and women’s
amateur golf respectively. In 2005, the EGU and
EWGA and the Professional Golfers Association (PGA)
and Sport England formed the England Golf
Partnership (EGP).
In partnership, the game of golf
aims through the implementation of a Whole Sport
Plan (WSP) to increase and widen participation
levels in golf and achieve a vision of being
‘The Leading Golf Nation in the World’ by 2020,
from grass roots through to the elite level.
Quite simply it is about ‘Growing the Game’ in
England. The Hampshire, IOW & CI Golf
Partnership has been formed to carry out the
above at County Level.
